GateGuardX on Mighty Mule gates.

The short answer: if your Mighty Mule gate has a motor and opens on a signal, the way a keypad or remote does, and nearly all do, GateGuardX works with it. No rebuild, no replacement, installed in about half a day.

About Mighty Mule

Mighty Mule is a US gate-automation brand founded in 1987, today part of Nice North America (previously under GTO Access Systems and Nortek Security & Control). The brand makes DIY-oriented swing and slide gate operators for driveway gates, many of them battery-backed and solar-capable with an optional panel. Its products are common in the North American residential market and are sold through home-improvement and farm-supply retailers such as Home Depot and Tractor Supply.

(In the gate trade, an “operator” is simply the motor that opens the gate.)

Mighty Mule makes swing and sliding gates, and the same simple rule covers them all.

Common Mighty Mule models include MM371W, MM571W, MM560, MM-SL2000B. Whether it works is determined by what's on the control board, not the model name, so send two photos and we confirm yours specifically.

How the integration works

It triggers your gate motor, it doesn't replace it.

  • We wire to the same terminals your remotes use, often inside the motor housing.
  • Your keypad, intercom, and remotes keep working as fallbacks.
  • Your gate's own safety features (photo-eyes, safety edges, auto-reverse, to the UL 325 standard) stay fully in charge of the moving gate. We never bypass a safety device.
  • No digging, no reconstruction, fully reversible.

Mighty Mule compatibility FAQ

Is Mighty Mule a supported brand?

Yes, Mighty Mule is on our verified-brands list. Whether any specific gate works still comes down to what's on its control board, so we confirm yours from two photos, within 48 hours.

Do I need to replace my Mighty Mule gate or gate motor?

No. GateGuardX installs on the gate you already have, a small controller tells your existing gate motor to open, exactly like a keypad or remote does.

What if I can't find a dry-contact input?

Most control boards have one, often labeled for a keypad, intercom, or remote. If yours doesn't, a small relay add-on provides it. Send a photo of the board and we'll point to the exact terminals.

Will it conflict with my keypad, intercom, or remotes?

No, GateGuardX adds a trigger alongside what you already have. Keep your keypad, intercom, and remotes as fallbacks; the plate reader simply becomes the primary way in.
